Darlene Girton
FOUNDER + TEACHER
Darlene has had the idea to launch this website and grow this online shop for years. From the first Featherweight machine("Esther") that Andy bought for Darlene, she and Andy certainly knew they had their hands on something special. Now they want to help give new life to these machines and share everything they know about Featherweights with others.
"My favorite part of the Featherweight is the simplicity of the design. I love educating and empowering people to take care of their equipment by using hand tools. I consider it an honor to be part of this amazing community of enthusiasts."

Reagan Girton
CREATIVE DESIGNER
SOCIAL MEDIA, LOGISTICS, DESIGN
Reagan has been working for the business since day 1. Her first job with the business was shipping all of Featherweight Doctor’s orders. Now she has recently graduated from Bellevue College at the age of 18 with her Associate's in graphic design and history. She now runs all of our social media and graphic work. She is making all of our business cards, class handouts, signage, and so much more.
She is a ballet teacher at a dance studio in her spare time here in Sandpoint. She enjoys spending time at the beach, reading, and writing.

Trine Grillo
TEACHER
A teacher and quilter for over 30 years, Trine Grillo has a passion for keeping the art of quilting alive for future generations. She sees the craft of traditional hand-quilting as true folk art; each piece is a creative expression uniquely telling a story of family, community, blessings, and hardships. She has created a countless number of quilts for others from her family members, to new babies, the elderly, as well as healing quilts for those who need comfort.

Margaret Reid
TEACHER
Margaret Reid is a seamstress in Sandpoint, Idaho. She has been sewing for nearly 30 years, starting from the early age of 5 at the elbow of her grandmother, an accomplished and professional sewer, quilter, and garment designer. She learned all she could from her for at least 10 years. After mastering the basics of her passion, she moved on to creating her own wardrobe and sewing for friends and family, often teaching herself more complex conceptions along the way. She has received instruction from Kenneth D. King, Janet Pray, Suzie Furor and a multitude of other professional designers and patternmakers. She regularly sews clothing for her family of 7, including children's clothing, dress designs, and formal wear for men and women as well. She carefully sews for herself and is always perfecting her skills and talents in order to achieve a tailored fit. For a short while, she even explored a cloth diaper enterprise in order to fulfill and teach about the needs of economic benefits and healthy habits associated with them. In 2021 she fitted and stitched, from several states away, vests for all 6 groomsmen all the while achieving a perfect fit and finish.
She began pattern drafting out of a desire to create things for herself and her children and at the same time inject into her projects her own unique personality that makes sewing a true joy to her and a joy she then brings to others. It was a long time of trial and error, yet she has a finely tuned perspective on fashion, and she remembers: form must follow function. She is constantly seeking out ways to improve and always looking for a more refined fit and a wider range of styles. She has begun taking more advanced classes on pattern making and hopes to bring her knowledge to others so that they too may grow. Her passion for sewing and pattern drafting has gone beyond a hobby as she now wishes to instruct and bring the joy of sewing to others. The entire process from vision, to choosing patterns and fabrics, to cutting and sewing, to the final fit, is a magnificent adventure she is thrilled to take you on!
